Our History and Philosophy

Frank Jay Zak, President and Chief Investment Officer of Zak Advisory, LLC, started his investment career at E. F. Hutton in 1986 as a Series 7 registered representative.  In 1990, Frank joined Prescott, Ball, and Turben, a Cleveland-based regional investment firm and remained there through several mergers and acquisitions, culminating with the Wachovia/Wells Fargo combination.  Frank remained there through 2008 as a Vice President, Investments.  Frank has now formed Zak Advisory, LLC and is a registered investment adviser representative for the firm.

During that time Frank developed a $43 million business asset base of individual, IRA and institutional clients. All portfolios were personally designed and developed for myriad client requirements of growth, balanced growth and/or retirement income. For 22 years he cultivated a hands-on traditional practice using the following investment vehicles:

-       Common and preferred equities

-       Corporate, U.S. Government and Agency bonds

-       Tax-Free municipal bonds

-       Limited partnerships and Master Limited Partnerships (MLP’s)

-       Options (hedging and/or speculation)

-       Real Estate Investment Trusts (REIT’s)

-       Fixed and Variable Annuities (insurance)

-       American Depository Receipts (ADR’s, foreign companies)

-       Short Sales (hedging and/or speculative)

The business of portfolio management as practiced by Zak Advisory, LLC, a registered investment adviser, is intended as a fundamental and traditional approach using individual equity and bond positions as described in our growth and balanced income investment policies.  We do not use mutual funds, program trading, special platforms or “modeling” based on any outside money managers or financial services firms. As such, we do not pay for outside research nor do we involve ourselves with the buy or sell recommendations of outside sources. Our due diligence is based on publicly available information provided by sources such as Standard & Poor’s, Moody’s and the like, as well as our 20-plus years investment experience including researching and investing in individual companies, studying company reports, SEC filings, investment conferences and press releases of each company. We often attend annual meetings either in-person or via teleconference. Each account is individually tailored to each client’s needs.

The investments objectives, risks, charges, and expenses must be considered carefully before investing.   The firm’s brochure explains this and other important information and is available upon request by calling (216) 970-1904.
